Support for Noon Supervision - Parent Info

Dear Prairie Valley Families

As you may be aware, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) is undertaking job action that includes the indefinite withdrawal of noon supervision. We are reaching out to you to ask for your help to strengthen our mitigation plans for this form of job action.

The removal of noon supervision means teachers, principals, vice-principals and other STF members will not be available to supervise students over their lunch breaks or during noon-hour activities.

All Prairie Valley schools have detailed plans in place to reduce the impact of the removal of noon supervision on students and school operations. These plans ensure student safety, which is our number one priority. Critically, they also maintain the amount of in class, instructional time our students receive each day.

To support our schools’ noon supervision plans, we are building a list of back-up, noon supervisors. This will provide more options for schools to deploy noon supervisors in the event of support staff absences or other unforeseen circumstances.

Parents, guardians, family members and community members are encouraged to reach out to their school’s administrative office if they would like to help provide this support. Contact info for all schools is available here. Schools have information packages outlining how volunteers can become a paid noon supervisor.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your school, or you can contact the Prairie Valley Education Centre at 306-949-3366 or [email protected]

Sincerely,
